For years I have been beaten down
Suppressed, ignored, forgotten
Now no longer do I need to surround
Myself with sympathetic people

For years I have been abused and insulted
No-one stopping to ask themselves why
When finally I was alone
I’d lock myself away and cry

But no longer does human cruelty affect me
No longer can they do me wrong
It isn’t that humanity has changed
Only that it’s made me strong!
